Experience Camping!!

Camping is the new age millennium thing which involves spending some time outside of the regular mundane life in nature. It involves spending one night in camps with all the modern facilities like washrooms, beds and food facility provided to the tourists which makes it more comfortable. 

There is no clear definition of camping. Fundamentally, it reflects a combination of intent and the nature of activities involved.

The history of recreational camping is often traced back to Thomas Hiram Holding, a British travelling tailor, but it was actually first popularised in the UK on the river Thames. By the 1880s large numbers of visitors took part in the pastime, which was connected to the late Victorian craze for pleasure boating.

In India when people are bored of staying in hotels or home stays they want to reach out to the nature and prefer camping. Numerous camping options have come lately at different places. Some of these are:

1. Camping in Kasol:

Kasol is a hamlet in the district KulluHimachal Pradesh, northern India. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. It is located 30 km from Bhuntar and 3.5 km from Manikaran. Kasol popularly called as Mini Israel of India, acts as a base for nearby treks to Chalal, Kheer ganga & yanker pass. 

Best time to visit: October to June 

2. Camping in Ladakh:

Ladakh (“land of high passes”) is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. Ladakh campsites are popular in Pangong lake, Nubra valley and Tsomoriri Lakes. 

Best time to visit: May to September

3. Rafting and camping in Rishikesh:

Rishikesh is a city in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand, in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River. The river is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation. Literally thousands of people travel here to experience the life near Ganges and enjoy rafting and camping.

Best time to visit: September to November

4. Camping in Lansdowne:

Lansdowne is a town and a hill station situated on the Kotdwar – Pauri road at a height of 1,706 m in Uttarakhand, India. Lansdowne is located in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand, 45 km from Kotdwar. Most of the tourist used to come here for the awesome weather and off beat location. It is lately becoming a camping place for the travelers.

Best time to visit: September to May 

5. Camping in Jaisalmer:

Jaisalmer is a former medieval trading center and a princely state in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, in the heart of the Thar Desert. Known as the “Golden City,” it’s distinguished by its yellow sandstone architecture. Many camping sites have come here giving mid-range to luxury experiences of camel riding and local performances.

Best time to visit: November to February
