Gurgaon: An Urban Frenzy!

Why should one visit Gurgaon?

Living in Gurgaon for a long time has made me wonder if I can share some information fruitful for the readers here.

How much you hate this city for its never stopping traffic, noisy roads, polluted environment, unsafe surroundings but there is a lot which make you fall in love for the city as well. I have made a lot of friends here, enjoyed its night life, roamed in the city for the countless restaurants & cafes and shopped till I dropped.

It’s a place where you work hard and you party harder.

Well, there are some places which you can explore when you are here:

  • Kingdom of Dreams: It is definitely a place where you will get some beautiful shots for your social media friends. Zangoora and Jhumroo are the two shows which you should definitely plan booking in advance. Though there is another attraction which is ‘Cultural gully’ where you will find variety of food items and some shopping items to purchase but I would highly recommend watching a show. Zangoora cast will make you dance and you will love the performance. The entry ticket is expensive for cultural gully but the shows are worth while so book a show according to the timings and visit the place.
  • Cyber Hub: If you have been to Singapore and seen Gardens by the Bay then you will see a small duplication of those trees here. It is a commercial complex with major MNCs offices but the space will give you a chill of an entertainment zone. There are restaurants, cafes, pubs, amphitheatre( where celebrities perform, Matches are shown on a projector etc). It has lately become quite crowded and you will hardly find any place on Fridays/weekends. If you have come to Gurgaon then you cannot miss coming here.
  • Sector 29, Gurgaon: Going back to the economical story, Gurgaon as a city developed after Maruti Suzuki established a manufacturing plant here(Source: Wikipedia). That is one of the reason that restaurants, cafes and malls are in abundance. Sector 29 is also in this parade with lot of chilling joints and urban night life. Though, Leisure Valley park is located at a walking distance for joggers and kids but it is mostly known for its pubs and restaurants.
  • Ambience Mall: There are many malls in India and with international brands opening stores in various parts of India we have become less crazy for shopping abroad. Ambience mall is one such mall where you will get a mix of national and international brands, good restaurants, movie hall, kids play zone, ice skating, bowling alley etc.

These are some of the places which you can cover if you are planning to extend a night in Gurgaon.

  • Damdama Lake(approx. 25 kms): It is a natural lake with some of the resorts offering adventure activities. Mostly used by corporates for team building activities and locals for picnics.
  • Surajkund(approx. 44 kms): As the name suggests, it is a kund(lake or reservoir) built by King Suraj Pal. It has lately acquired its fame because of the International Surajkund Crafts Mela which is held between 1st to 15th feb every year where craftsmen from all over the country showcases handicrafts, handlooms, terracotta artifacts, jewellery and metal items. If you have time then visit this mela for entertainment, Indian cuisines and shopping opportunities along with the kund.
  • NeverEnuf Garden(approx. 27 kms): It is also a place where you can take your kids for picnic. There are train miniatures running along the track with some water bodies and garden area to enjoy.
  • Sultanpur National Park(around 15 kms): It is a national park famous for both migratory and resident birds. Birds find it a favourable place to come in winters and rest till April. Best time for sightseeing is December to February.

Commuting in Gurgaon is quite easy as both public and private transport is available.
